Pumpkin Carving Made Easy!

RSS

You don’t need a pumpkin carving kit to make scary-good jack-o-lanterns. Chances are, you have all the tools you need in your garage right now.

Use a drywall saw to cut through the thick pumpkin rind. It’s perfect for removing the top of the pumpkin and carving the eyes and mouth.

For perfectly round eyes, mouths, or noses, turn to the drill. Use regular bits for small holes, spade bits for medium ones, and a hole saw for large ones.

Help your pumpkin last through Halloween with a little lemon juice. Rub down the inside of your carved-out pumpkin with half a lemon. Squeeze the juice from the other half and brush it on any cut areas, like the insides of the eyes or mouth. The juice’s acid will slow down the rotting process and inhibit mold.
