10 Organic Foods Worth the Expense

RSS

Many foods are exposed to pesticides during the growing stages. Some experts and environmental groups are concerned about the possible ways pesticides from foods may affect your health over the long haul.

Although U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) tests show levels of pesticides in food are safe, a Government Accountability Office study found gaps in the USDA’s testing program. For example, the USDA doesn’t test for all pesticides.

Organic foods have less pesticide residue, but they’re also more expensive. You can play it safe without breaking the bank. The Environmental Working Group issues an annual report listing the supermarket foods most tainted by pesticides (https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty-dozen.php).

Buying organic versions of these foods means each extra dollar you spend reduces your exposure to pesticides.
