A Summer Garden Guide to Tasty Tomatoes

RSS

Nothing says summer like a vine-ripened tomato.  And if you grow your own, you’re sure to have all you can eat — and more!

To start with, pick the right seeds.  “Determinates” are good for small gardens.  “Indeterminates” will grow as big as you let them.

Plant in a nice sunny spot with good drainage — you’ll get more tomatoes.

Grow cabbage, carrots, celery, and onions near your tomatoes to keep pests away, add flavor to the tomatoes, and return nutrients to the soil.

Support your plants with 6-foot stakes.  Tie each one up every 12 inches.
