How to Beat the Summer Heat!

When it comes to staying cool in the dog days of summer, there are a handful of steps everyone can take.  First, avoid caffeine and alcohol – both increase the risk of dehydration.    And when it comes to meals, stick with light, healthy foods.  Focus on fruits and vegetables more than meats. 

  

Schedule outdoor activities for the morning and evening, instead of during the heat of the day.  At bedtime, keep your room as cool as possible and wear breathable sleepwear. 

  

Of course, the most important tip of all is to stay hydrated.  Keep a water bottle nearby all day and drink often.
