Probiotics in yogurt not only support digestion but also help reduce stress. French researchers discovered that these friendly bacteria help ease anxiety and lower stress hormone levels.

In a study of 55 participants, scientists gave half the group Probio’Stick, a probiotic containing Lactobacillus helveticus and Bifidobacterium longum. The other half took a placebo. After one month, those taking the probiotics showed lower anxiety and reduced stress hormone levels, while the placebo group saw no change.

While Probio’Stick wasn’t available in the U.S. at the time, similar probiotic products are now widely accessible. Yogurt is a simple way to enjoy these benefits.
